SAFETY NOTE PARAGLIDER
The brake handles of the type PARATECH “Evolution” as shown in picture 1

which have been supplied after May 1, 2007 have a manufacturing defect in their
swivel links: the two holes of this swivel link have been badly rounded off
and deburred.
The black cord fastening it to the handle and the colored main brake line can be
damaged and considerably weakened where they pass through the swivel link holes,
which might lead to failure of the link between the brake handle and the main
brake line.
A sign indicating the beginning of this process even after slight use is the
partial fraying of the lines where they pass through the swivel link holes,
as shown in picture 2 and 3.

In agreement with the DHV the manufacturer PARATECH takes the following
safety measures:
Before the next flight, the brake handles have to be inspected
for possible damages as described above:
If any damage to the lines is detected, the handles have to be replaced
before the next flight.
If no visible damages are apparent but the brake handles or the paraglider
were purchased after May 1, 2007, they may still be used until the replacement
handles arrive, but they have to be checked before each flight.
The brake handles can be exchanged by the pilot him- or herself.

Les poignées livrées après le 1er Mai 2007
presentent un défaut de fabrication du cylindre d'accroche à la suspente.
les arêtes n'ont pas été mouchées,
ce qui entraine rapidement une usure côté bout de poignée.

En accord avec le DHV, Paratech a pris les mesures suivantes:
Avant le prochain vol, les poignées doivent etre inspectées.
1. Si une usure est détectée, remplacer immediatement la poignée
2. S'il n'y a pas d'usure mais que le parapente ou les poignées ont été
achetées avant le 1er Mai 2007, elles doivent être remplacées mais peuvent
voler en attendant, moyennant inspection avant chaque vol.
Les pilotes concernés doivent contacter PARATECH pour un échange.

SICHERHEITSMITTEILUNG GLEITSCHIRM
Bei Bremsgriffen des Typs PARATECH «Evolution» wie im Bild 1,
Bild 1
die nach dem 1. Mai 2007 ausgeliefert worden sind, gibt es einen Produktionsfehler
des Wirbels: Die beiden Bohrungen sind bei diesem Wirbel schlecht ausgerundet
und entgratet.
Die schwarze Befestigungsschnur zum Griff und die farbige Hauptbremsleine
können im Bereich des Wirbelloches verletzt und stark geschwächt werden,
was zum Versagen der Verbindung Bremsgriff-Hauptbremsleine führen kann.
Zu erkennen ist dies im Ansatz bereits nach geringem Gebrauch durch teilweises
Ausfransen der Leinenstücke im Bereich der Wirbellöcher, so wie im Bild 2 und 3.

In Übereinstimmung mit dem DHV trifft der Hersteller
PARATECH folgende Sicherheitsmassnahme:
Die Bremsgriffe sind vor dem nächsten Flug auf eventuelle Beschädigungen,
wie oben beschrieben zu untersuchen:
1. Sollte eine erkennbare Verletzung der Leinen vorliegen,
sind die Griffe vor dem nächsten Flug auszutauschen.
2. Sollte noch keine sichtbare Beschädigung vorliegen, die Bremsgriffe
respektive der Gleitschirm aber nach dem 1. Mai 2007 bezogen worden sein,
können diese bis zum Erhalt der Austauschgriffe weiter benutzt werden,
müssen aber vor jedem Flug kontrolliert werden.
Der Austausch der Bremsgriffe kann durch den Piloten selbst erfolgen.
