Paraglider Nova Ra M DHV GS-01-1571-06
During check flights conducted by the DHV on 16th June 2007,
irregularities in the flight characteristics of a Nova RA M
were revealed that are not present in the DHV test example of this paraglider.
It has been determined that incorrect trimming of the paraglider with incorrect
line lengths are the reason for this behavior.
A check of production data for the RA made by Nova has shown that several
paragliders in this series, constructed between January and April 2007,
have been sold with incorrect trimming, not as set in the DHV test example.
The serial numbers of these gliders are:

Nova have contacted the purchasers of the above canopies on 2nd May 2007,
with details on the necessity of a correction to the trimming. As it has
become clear that not all owners have either corrected the trimming
differences, or been contacted by Nova.
In agreement with Nova, the DHV has issued the following safety notice:
The above listed paragliders must have their trimming corrected before
they may be flown again.
Some of the above paragliders may be corrected by their owners,
others must be returned to Nova.
All owners of Nova RAs with the above listed serial numbers should
immediately contact Nova for details on their particular paraglider.
The above listed paragliders may not be flown until the trimming has
been corrected.
Should the corrections contained in the safety notice issued by Nova on
2nd May 2007 already have been applied, then these paragliders are not
referred to in this notice.
Nova offer all owners of RA M paragliders a free trimming check,
which is independent of this safety notice.

Pendant des vols réalisés par le DHV le 16/06/2007, des differences ont été
constatées par rapport au modele certifié.
Un calage incorrect de la voile (longueur de suspentes erronées) en sont la raison.

NOVA a contacté les acheteurs de ces voiles le 2 Mai 2007. Il semble que tous les
propriétaires n'ont soit pas été contactés, soit n'ont pas procédé à la rectification.
En accord avec NOVA, le DHV recommande:
Toutes les voiles mentionnées ci-dessus doivent etre re-calées avant le prochain vol.
Certaines peuvent l'etre par le proprietaire, d'autres doivent etre renvoyees au
fabricant. Contactez NOVA immediatement.
Pas de vol avec ces voiles avant que le defaut n'ait été corrigé.
Si la correction a déjà été effectuée suite à la notification de NOVA le 2/5/7,
la voile n'est pas concernée par ce message.
NOVA offre en outre aux propriétaires de NOVA RA M une verification du calage
gratuite, independamment de ce message.

Bei einem Nachtest eines RA M durch den DHV am 16. Juni 2007 hat sich abweichendes
Flugverhalten im Vergleich zum DHV-geprüften Muster ergeben. Grund ist eine
fehlerhafte Trimmung aufgrund falscher Leinenlängen. Bei einer Überprüfung der
Produktionsdaten durch die Fa. Nova hat sich gezeigt, dass eine Reihe der im
Zeitraum Januar bis April 07 produzierten RA M nicht mit dem Trimmzustand des
DHV-geprüften Musters ausgeliefert worden ist. Es handelt sich um die Geräte
mit den Seriennummern:

Die Fa. Nova hat bereits am 2. Mai 2007 über ihr Vertriebsnetz die Halter der
betroffenen Geräte über die Notwendigkeit einer Trimmungskorrektur informiert.
Offensichtlich sind aber nicht alle betroffenen RA M entsprechend der
Anweisungen der Fa. Nova korrigiert worden oder die Informationen der Fa.
Nova haben nicht alle Halter erreicht.
In Übereinstimmung mit der Fa. Nova trifft der DHV deshalb
folgende Sicherheitsmaßnahme:
Die Geräte mit den aufgeführten Seriennummern müssen vor dem nächsten Flug in
einen ordnungsgemäßen Trimmzustand gebracht werden. Dies kann bei einem Teil
der Geräte durch den Halter selbst erfolgen, andere müssen vom Hersteller neu
eingestellt werden. Die Halter der betroffenen Geräte werden aufgefordert, sich
umgehend mit der Fa. Nova in Verbindung zu setzen.
Bis zur Durchführung der erforderlichen Trimmungskorrekturen dürfen die
betroffenen Geräte nicht geflogen werden.
Soweit die Korrekturen bereits aufgrund der Mitteilung der Fa. Nova vom 2.
Mai 2007 ordnungsgemäß durchgeführt wurden, sind diese Geräte von der
Lufttüchtigkeitsanweisung nicht betroffen.
Unabhängig von dieser Maßnahme bietet Nova allen Haltern des RA M jederzeit
eine kostenlose Nachprüfung des Trimmzustandes ihres Schirmes an.
