Tow release freeX Control DHV 06-0027-98
In two reported cases the release line of a FreeX-Control towing hook has become
tangled in the release-pin and prevented disengagement!
Upon examination it has been determined that the plastic casing between the
release pin and the wire release mechanism had suffered shrinkage of more
than 1mm, and that the release line had become caught at this point.
In addition it has been determined that the band attached to the rubber
protector on the release handle had also suffered shrinkage, and was
forcing the release pin too far forward.
Through this, when attaching the tow line it was then possible for the
release line to slide behind the release pin and so become damaged.
The release pin should not be longer that the streched out band attached to it.
The release line must lie directly on the pin and not on its plastic casing!
Towing hooks with damaged release mechanisms must be repaired before further use.
Please observe the Airworthiness warning of 1999-09-16 where this problem
was first identified.

Deux cas de blocage du système de largage en treuillé ont été constatés
avec le système FreeX Control (DHV 06-0027-98).
En fait, lorsque la goupille de largage est trop enfoncée, le cable peut
venir se coincer entre la gaine et la goupille du largueur
(voir photo ci-dessous).
De plus, la goupille ne doit normalement pouvoir être enfoncée si profondément.
Le cable doit toujours accrocher la goupille et non la gaine plastique.
Ceci peut se produire notamment quand le plastique se rétracte.
Les largueurs endommagés ou présentant les risques décrits ci-dessus
doivent être réparés.
Ces problèmes avaient déjà été décrits dans un message du DHV du 16/09/1999.

Schleppklinke freeX Control DHV 06-0027-98
In zwei Fällen verhakte sich das Auslöseseil während des Schlepps am Splint
des Auslösegriffs von FreeX-Control-Schleppklinken und blockierte die Auslösung!
Dabei wurde festgestellt, dass zwischen dem verklebten Splint und dem Stahlseilzug,
die Kunststoffummantelung um mehr als 1 mm verkürzt war und sich das Auslöseseil
darin verklemmt hat.
Gleichzeitig wurde festgestellt, dass sich das Gurtband durch den Gummizug,
der am Auslösegriff befestigt ist, zusammengezogen hat und so den Auslösesplint
zu weit nach vorne schob. Dadurch konnte sich beim Einhängen des Schleppseils
das Auslöseseil, das hinter den Auslösesplint verrutschte, direkt zwischen
Kunststoffummantelung und Splint verhängen und so auch das Auslöseseil beschädigen.
Der Splint sollte bei gestrafftem Gurtband nicht länger als das Gurtband selbst sein.
Das Auslöseseil muss auf dem Splint liegen und nicht auf der Kunststoffummantelung!
Klinken mit erkennbar beschädigten Auslöseseilen, müssen ausgetauscht werden.
Bitte beachtet die Lufttüchtigkeitsanweisung vom 1999-09-16.
Dort wurde bereits auf dieses Problem aufmerksam gemacht.
